MIDDLETON BY YOULGREAVE

Bakewell 4 miles.

Middleton by Youlgreave is a small, quiet and secluded village situated in lovely rolling countryside above the River Bradford. The village centre consists of an old square and a village green with a second World War memorial. Its slightly larger neighbour, Youlgreave, is a pretty village with traditional old pubs and village stores, and was once the centre of the Derbyshire lead-mining industry. Nearby Bakewell is an attractive old market town, extremely popular with visitors and offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as a frequent local market. The area is situated within the Peak District National Park and ideally placed for exploring this beautiful region. Alton Towers, Britain's premier theme park, is only a short drive away and there are many stately homes to visit - Chatsworth, Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall, to mention but a few.

The Property: Peak Cottage

An early 19th century stone built terraced cottage situated in the very heart of the delightful village of Middleton by Youlgreave, with an outlook across the green and village square. Peak Cottage is full of olde worlde charm and character with a quaint sitting room boasting a cosy woodburning stove. The front and rear garden are both ideal for sitting out and enjoying the peace and tranquillity of this sleepy village. Centrally located in this beautiful part of the National Park, this is an ideal location for exploring on foot, with lovely walks from the doorstep or riding a bike through the many quiet lanes and footpaths of the area. For touring and sightseeing the nearby attractions of Bakewell with its regular market, Matlock, and the 'not to be missed' Chatsworth House are all within easy reach.

Previous Visitors' Comments
The cottage was a home from home without the disturbances of everyday life. We were left completely to our own devices, whilst the cottage owner was extremely helpful in pointing us in the right direction with where and what to do and where to go.

Excellent base for walking and exploring the area. The Farmyard Inn in Youlgrave, best for food. Haddon Hall worth a visit.
